HI RUTH=YOUNGEST XAVIER SIBLING HERE!!! I SEE MR DELL VERY FREQUENTLY ON THE SOCCER FIELDS=IN FACT HE HAS OFFICIATED MY OLDEST DAUGHTER TWICE IN THE LAST TWO WEEKS. HE SEEMS TO BE EVERYWHERE AS FAR AS LOCAL SOCCER IS CONCERNED. MY MIDDLE DAUGHTERS TEAM WON THE ERSL SHIELD LAST YEAR AND HE WAS THERE TO PRESENT THE MEDALS. I SAW CATHY RUMNEY ON MONDAY AT A LOCAL BINGO. SHE WAS A PLAYER AND I WAS WORKING=SOCCER FUND RAISER FOR ONE DAUGHTERS TEAM. SHE IS MARRIED AND HAS TWO DAUGHTERS. I AM HOPING THE REUNION BECOMES A REALITY. IT IS ALWAYS FUN TO SEE OLD FRIENDS. BETTY MOON-RAY IS STILL IN THE AREA-SHE WORKS AT THE RAMADA IN BELLEVILLE. SO, PERHAPS SHE WILL USE HER ORGANIZATION SKILLS AGAIN. I HAVE PASSED THE WEB SITE ON TO ANY BAYSIDE ALUMNI I KNOW, SO HOPEFULLY THEY WILL PASS IT ON AND MORE AND MORE FRIENDS WILL SURFACE. TAKE CARE ALL, TERESA

Teresa,
The Xaviers are well represted here as always. My son Clayton's team came second in the ERSL last year (boys under 14). I think it was the 2nd week end in September and it was Mr. Dell who handed out the medals. He really hasn't changed very much except for a being a little bigger and having some grey hair - not much different from me.

Okay Here is a 70's student asking for help from the "young ones" Mr Begg was the 2nd music teacher for bayside. The first was Mr Charles LaPointe he was 50 and tried to make us think like adults...he ended up quitting and building a geodesic dome house down in Prence Edward County and was a free thinker and probably what we considered a hippie...i think we were too young and definitely not ready for him...long story...he only lasted the first year. Mr Beggs came in and really was the music teacher that made the difference. So what I want to know is what is the mill pond campus? ? When did Mr Beggs leave the music program...or is he still in it. Thanks in Advance John Fulton 71-75

John - Music teacher Mr. Begg is still involved with the school, the base band, but not teaching music to the students currently enrolled at BSS. My sister Teresa, who is still in Trenton, can fill you in. Begg is residing in Belleville. He last a lot longer than Mr. LaPointe, for sure. No idea on what the "mill pond campus" is/was? A term used by a different generation of BSS student perhaps?

Hi Ruth: That is funny you were in Belleville the same time we were for the ERSL soccer finals. My daughter was on the U12 team and due to their win, they move to the premiere division this year and so we will be doing more traveling just for regular games this year. Lots of weekends and bus rides I think. My older daughter is playiing an age group up this year U17 even though she should be U16 and now my U8 daughter is trying out for an all-star team, so we will be pretty busy on the fields and see lots of Mr. Dell!!! I agree he pretty much looks the same as always!!! Anytime I see any of the teachers, I feel they have not changed much. I saw the Boyds not too long ago and they look exactly the same and they said the same about me( I do not believe that though!!). Mr. Harris looks the same too!! Take care and great hearing from you. Teresa

Hi Ruth! Remember me from the little known 3rd floor Theatre Arts room? Lots of enertainment up there with some fun people! Sorry, I don't have any "soccer mom/dad" stories, but I do have lots of baseball, figure skating and dance stories! Teresa, next time you see Cliff Dell tell him I said hello... I am still in touch with Howie out in California from time to time.

Jules, Jules, Jules.....there were a few of the females I had crushes on true ( including a young Morgan ) but alas I did have a steady in high school whom I have bummped into from time to time. Do you remember Sandra Eckman? lives in Belleville with husband and kids. There was another in my english class named Tracey. ( no didn't date her ) I still see her alot, she and her husband live down the road here in Trenton. Her kids are grown, in fact she became a grandmother about 6 months ago I think. Well girls were girls and guys were guys and crushes were things we had....we dated and learned. It is interesting to see those we had crushes on in the year book and compare them to how they are today....do they still have what we saw then?? Cheers Lance

Brian, Sorry I missed this post - way back in April. Of course I remember Theatre Arts. That represents some of my best memories from Bayside. I will always remember the version of the 'Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald" that we did in a group.
I'm surprised we haven't run into each other in Ottawa. I'm in Barrhaven so aside from downtown work routines (Hull), I'm pretty much in the South end most of the time.
Cheers

There were two Ekman sisters, Sandra and Patti. I can visualize their house Lance as I visited often when you were dating. I recall Sandi's dad keeping an eye on you with his daughter, then later, when you were in the CAF, you worked for him on the planes. Too funny. I often wondered what happened to miss giggles. So, married and a mother. Dating was scary then, and scary now. Andrea Tufts was a big crush for me in Grade 11. And Cathy Rumney. Teresa sees her on the soccer pitches in Trenton when their daughters are each playing minor soccer. Lisa Mills was a sweetie, too. I remember buying her a dress, from the catalogue, after I went off to my first year of uni at York in Toronto. She's now in Vancouver last I heard, but I've lost touch. We did go out for coffee once when I was north Vancouver visiting Morgan for the first time in a long time...my first trip to BC after being gone since the early 70s after we were posted to Kingston from Comox (on Vancouver Island). A good observation — Lance — what was it that attracted us to certain girls over others. I know I was different from most guys as I liked girls with short hair: Lisa, Cathy, Andrea. A petite I suppose. Of course, girls who were athletic and enjoyed the outdoors. Lisa was great on the piano. But those are my teenage memories flooding back....when hormones controlled the brain. But Lance was the "Romance". Remember the girls you'd chase from other high schools during the science fair?

Ruth - are you still performing on stage? Community theatre must be big in Ottawa and area? I know community theatre is big in Wetaskiwin, and moreso at a junior high as well as the high school. Sacred Heart's students, from Grade 2 to 9, are putting on Joseph and his Technicolour Coat. The community theatre group just did the Sound of Music. I guess you're not shy when you have to get up on stage and perform or sing in front of an audience. Kudos to you.....I can play sports in front of an audience, but not "act".

Hey Ruth... would be great to hook up for a coffee, or other refreshing beverage, and have a few laughs about the old days in the Theatre Arts Room. I live in the Crystal Beach area, but my wife works in Barhaven at the pool at the Walter Baker Centre. As Jules has sugessted, perhaps we can do some Ottawa area recruiting for the BSS reunion.

Hi Lance. I did some sports at Bayside, track, basketball, volleyball and soccer (a true participant rather than a true athlete). I left most of that behind when I went to university and moved more seriously into the theatre world. I did Theatre sports for a while and some murder mystery gigs. But then I needed to make a living so I got a job with the government. Now I'm more of a spectator than a participant. I decided to leave the theatre stuff until I could afford to do it for free again. Once I'm not driving my boys to their sporting and social events, I hope to get back involved in the Arts directly.
There are a few of us in Ottawa, Brian and I will try to hook up at some point.
