Remember when.........Scott Leblanc aka Scooter. Who was like 7 feet tall, and probably 120 lbs. Bet people that he would run through the school wearing nothing but a pair of leopard print satin underwear and a Bart Simpson mask. Everyone was in the halls waiting, it was even video taped and he ran through the office too. He made some good cash that day!

Remember the smoking court? Is it even still there? It was the place to be back in the day. Altho most of us used to sneak outside the doors between classes to grab a quick puff. We always got caught by the janitors. But it was a daily ritual. Some memories never fade. I remember my first day at Bayside, we were little fish in a big pond and tried to stay out of the seniors way.

I still chuckle over the social divisions in the school, and how people would actually walk around the long way, rather then walk by the "skid row" (by the library and art class doors....) I wonder what goes on now? LOL and yeah, it was a big school for such a small student population, I swear my kids have more students in their public school then we had in high school (which covered a lot more area then just a few city blocks ) BTW where are all the Montrose gang ( remember when gang only meant chums? pals? people that hung out together LOL)?

Chris, I remember when I first started at Bayside. I didn't know anyone there yet as my family had just been posted to Trenton. I HATED walking by the skid bench and then the preppy bench everyone would just stare at you!! For my first few years I felt safest upstairs. But by grade 11 and 12 I had paid my dues and felt comfortable anywhere. Of corse there was all the guys who hung out on the ramp upstairs too. Social classes at Bayside were definatly funny!

Beleive it or not we had the skid row crew as well. They were intimadating to walk by and most people who weren't labelled as cool really hated to walk by them. I remember one young guy had pennies thrown at him, another one they stuffed in a locker. Nice to know somethings never change. Although Im not sure the skid row crew were a good thing. lol

One suggestion might be to get more alumni from the seventies in this group. They were the orginal red devils. All I see are mostly young kids who just left Bayside. We older Red Devils set the way for them. Hello Guestreddevil, Sorry about that. Unfortunately, we have to go by lists on classmates.com, graduate.com and reunion.com. We message the students listed there that attended Bayside. Until more people from the 70's list we have no way of contacting them It is such a shame that we can't as their memories and stories I'm sure are the best. All we can do is to keep contacting the students that list. Sorry Guestreddevil you have a valid point and we would love to rectify that problem. Cheers, Sarah

Anybody ever hear from Cindy Newman?
Watched team Canada beat the Russians in good ol' Bayside

The smoking court... a place teachers could keep an eye on those students who smoked. Not anymore. I guess the kids will have to walk across the highway to take a puff. Or use those hallways en route upstairs, when the weather is bad. Memories. The smoking court was directly in line with teachers leaving their comfortable room, where Ernie Pope reigned as ping-pong champ back in the late 70s.
And who can't forget the famous line off the announcements from Chunky (not politically corrent today to talk about someone being overweight) as he reminded girls "please don't hitchhike" - too funny as I recall the announcements- on Fridays.
Assemblies weren't terribly exciting back then, though the teachers did poke fun at themselves on occassion fo the students. I think Potter was the class teacher clown! He could best any student - Bernie Daub was our class clown, and first winner of the Granger Memorial Award.
Powderpuff football, with the girls playing (Morgan and Jane my sisters threw on the gridiron attire) football and the guys dressing up a cheerleaders. Art Darlow, the late Paul Dassilva, all stuffing their bras to have bigger hooters than the actual cheerleaders like Sue M and Val Hopkins. And Art with a beard as I recall.
Or playing broomball near the tennis courts during our Winter Carnival.
Memories....
