Some additional pics. Kentucky Fried Chicken as it is today. There is still that large bucket sign but was not rotating when I took this pic. A Bad pic of Trenton High School - from a moving car. I was already being followed by an OPP cruiser so I didn't want to push my luck by looking like a pedophile by getting out of the car and photographing THS. Coming into Trenton on the main street. You can just see the movie theater on the left. I will try to get a better pic of the theater on my next visit. I'll see if they let me photograph the lobby. Half way down the main street. On the left is that OPP cruiser again. Further down on the right is Tim Hortons and I believe the Skyline restaurant is still there on the right. Small park area to the immediate right of the new bridge. Tim Hortons is out of the pic on the right. Behind on the other side of the river is the Old Canadian Tire Store. Coming over the bridge. To the left is the old A&W restaurant which is now a Ford Dealership. To the right out of the pic is the old Canadian Tire Store now a price Chopper. The old Pop Shoppe is now a seafood place. The Beer Store formally 'Brewer's Retail'. To the right is the old grocery store. I ran out of space on my camera after the beer store. I will take more pics on my next visit which will include: Trenton Theater Old Ireland's Drug Store Old Zellers MacDonalds Dairy Queen Chinese restaurant Where the Dutch Mill used to be Parts of the base (from a moving car) If you would like to see other landmarks please let me know.

Why was the OPP cruiser following you around? Did he stop for ID, run your plate? I recall the OPP taking over the troubled Trenton municipal police force a few years back. A lot of communities made the switch to OPP, not unlike Alberta cities and towns using the RCMP...whereas, Edmonton, Lethbridge and Calgary will operate with municipal forces.

Why was the OPP cruiser following you around? K , someone has to say it ROFLMAO! sheesh did you guys not notice there were only 2 cars on the road in most of the pics (tell I've been twisted by the big city where there are always cars on the road! LOL) Poor officer was probably trying to figure out why there were all of a sudden 3 cars on the road during rush hour It's been along time since I was back and you forget how beautiful and quiet that neck of the wood s was Phew well I feel better finally finding something to post about again back to the peanut gallery I go LOL Later Chris

Hi Guys, I fully expected to be stopped and was kind of hoping I was. I would of told him about the web site. Maybe he knew some people who went to Bayside and could of posted it at the station. I did wave at him at one point. Looking back I really should of stopped in the OPP station there introduced myself and what I was up to. I'll do that next time. I tried to wait for people and cars to be out of the way before taking a picture. I know the pics are not of the quality Jules takes . Sorry Cheers, Sarah

Sarah, thanks for taking the time and effort, and they are very beautiful pictures, considering you took most of them out your cars windows which is never easy to do and they most certainly make me home sick, have to remember to show my kids in the morning BTW that's why I love digital cameras...take 360+ shots and pick the 5 best LOL well I do that atleast.....would never be able to afford that with film;)

The OPP just recently took over policing duties again in Trenton and the Quinte area.. When i came back in 2000 it was policed by Quinte West police who hada large area including up to Loyalist Road going east. As most of you can see from the great pictures Sarah has supplied us , Trenton has changed much since the 80's.

I see by the pictures that they changed the bridge, when did that happen? Still looks like downtown TRENTON to me,guess it will always be that. When Brian was posted there and he called it Quinte I just said Huh? ? Doesnt really look like a lot has changed new stores where the old ones burned down, sad to hear the A&W is now a car dealership have fond memories of that place.I'd like to see shots from the top of mt whatever it si there, and see if the skating rink has changed.Good pics, take me back to a simpler time. Thanks for posting them.

Darryl Not much has changed in downtown Trenton.. Alot of empty store on the main drag. They took the swing bridge out in the early 90's I think. Bayside area which we grew up in hasn't changed alot either.Kenron Estates (the trailer park across from Ghent) is huge now tho. Remember the Jones girls(Patti and Barb) they used to live in there.

Yeah it seemed like time shot thru me when I looked at some of the shots, anyone remember the great fire-we were in the bar and the firemen came in the back door and ordered everyone out.The band were friends with the girl I was dating (Cathy from Trenton) and we helped them break down and get their equipment into their van.On our last run thru we noticed how many full beers were on the tables and gathered a bunch in our coats and proceeded to watch the fire from the concrete planters by the town clock. We stood there for hours watching that whole block become rubble. Must have been 79 near as I can recall. Yes I do remember them but still cant put faces to all names. Darrell

Hi John Fulton and Pat Harrington and anyone else from the Bayside Charter Students bunch. Its been a while, so I am not sure if either of you remember me at all. It is great to see this site and so many memories. Pat, if I recall correctly, you played clarinet, John played trombone, while I played trumpet. John, as I said on the Face Book Site, I still owe you a pair of track shoes.
I will be watching for your inputs.
