Hi all,
First and foremost, thanks to Sarah for introducing me to this forum.
Some alumni have been discussing planning a reunion for Spring/Summer 2007 to mark the 35th anniversary of Bayside.
Would anyone be interested in helping out on a Reunion Committee? Do you have any suggestions?
Thanks,
Shannon Willis Class of '96

Shannon... I would certainly be interested... 2007 would also mark my 25th Anniversary of graduating from BSS... YIKES!!! Let me know what I can do... I'm living in NS, but would be happy to brain storm some ideas and the like.

I think a 35 year Reunion would be great...It's been 28 years since I graduated and I would love to see all the old "gang". Let me know if you need any help. I still live in Quinte/Belleville area.

It's too bad we can't have the entire reunion at Bayside instead of Zwicks Park like the last one.
People could swim at the quarry. Camp on the field or the gym if it rains. Bring BBQ's.
It would be central to both motels/hotels in Belleville and Trenton.
Is there a computer lab at Bayside that posses Internet? That way people who couldn't come could go online and communicate to those at the reunion. Next best thing to being there.
There would be plenty of places to park outside or sit and converse inside.
I suppose getting permission for that would be a nightmare.

I think that all ideas are fair game at this stage. Thanks for all the wonderful suggestions!
I also think that it would be wonderful to have representation on the Reunion Committee from a wide variety of years so I'm glad that there is some interest so far.
Cheers, Shannon

The quarry has been filled in after a young lad died there a number of years ago.

the quarry is still there, just not as deep. As well, Bayside does have 3 computer labs, yes 3!

Hello - I still live in the Quinte area. I am willing to help with organization, etc. I was at the school the first year they opened, began high school there. Maiden name Anne Wride. If anyone wants to drop me an e-mail about it, anne.pennington@sympatico.ca. The school would need to be contacted for permission, and advertising. I know when ENSS had their big anniversary reunion this past year, the school advertised on their billboard outside the school. A website for the reunion registration would be a good thing, and advertisements in papers. Another good idea would be to advertise in Canadian Forces Base newspapers (usually free or cheap) and there are a lot of people who attended who were or are now affiliated with the military I would imagine.

Quinte had their reunion a couple of years ago and they advertised like crazy. They sent pamphlets out to the alumni. They also took donations from businesses in the community for door prizes. Also they had alumni pay to attend to help defray some of the costs. They had breakfast and a nature walk. I think it would be a great idea to see how everyone feels and take our ideas and make the Reunion the best one ever.

One other Idea is to have a pot luck dinner, that would work if the school allowed the reunion on site, allow an informal meal with keeping costs down. I was wondering about the cost problem of such a large scale reuion myself, lord knows the school boards have no money to spare anymore. Just my 2 cents again....

I can set up a BSS Reunion website with an online registration form. It's free and it could be linked to this site.
What do you guys think? Would take less than a couple of hours.
Sarah
PS I love messing with the PC, message boards, and web sites. I've set a few up.
Love the pot luck idea.

I am going to keep my Classmates.com subscription going so I can send messages to everyone listed on there about the reunion and updates. All 864... again Remember the first day at Bayside student council members would wear hats to identify themselves to help the first timers? I think they were cowboys hats. I want a hat or I'm not doing it
