Yes I passed the message on to my mom and she was very excited about the possible 07' reunion....is there a date set or are we still testing the waters at this point?? Mom wants to know too. I also passed the info about the site to my bro Art who, I think, has not signed up but has typed at quick note in. Yes Jules I was in a bodybuilding contest in Alberta while I was there... took 5th out of 7 in the light weight class ( am bigger now, an no! no steroids in this guy) I weigh in at about 180 lbs. which is not bad for a 5' 10" frame and a far cry from the 135 lbs I weighed in high school at about the same height lolol. Hey remember Lynne Richards and Sue Mountford?? I see them from time to time I will pass the info on to them. Oh and just a foot note Jules....to your quip about my "crushes on the ladies in school" I had the wonderful occassion to date one of those "crushes" a few years after I joined the military. She was one of the nicest dates I had been on ( an exceptional lady)....who? well I shouldn'd give out names but lets just say I always admired the B.S.S cheer leaders...

As someone who now lives in Saskatchewan, I would like to point out that if I attended a reunion my potluck item would be mighty cold by the time I got there. Maybe the pot luck idea should be rethought.

Ya my pot luck from Winnipeg might not be all that appealing either. I would rather pay to have something brought in. I know that Jim's Pizza was owned by the parent's of 2 former Bayside students, Annna and Andy K. Something like that would probably work. Or we could just have cookies and fries from the cafe.(jokes)

I'm not much for potluck. If I was making the trip from Calgary (and I might), I would want a real meal. Just charge me the $20 to $30 to get in. A local band might not be a bad idea either. Locals who are having financial issues, could provide assistance with the setup or planning and reduce their costs. (i.e. $10 for the same meal). Just a thought

Yeah I have to agree, pot luck was a silly idea (who came up with such a silly idea anyways! ROFL oh yeah that was me ) well I do have to agree, with the grads so far spread out it would make more sense to have a catered meal. what about having it at 1 of the hotels then? package deal? I personally am up for anything (including a slice of za sitting on the grass ) as long as I don't have to dress up Later Chris

MMMMM fries from the caf.. I'm up for that idea as long as we get gravy with them. They have just built a TravelLodge in Bayside on the site of the old Sunrise Cottages. Maybe they could give Bayside Alumni a deal on rooms.

I think my sister Teresa out of Trenton would concur, that Jim's might make for a great food source for the potential 35th reunion dinner...something informal per se. If the school was to be open, using the cafeteria and hallways adjacent...maybe the old smoking court. Outside. An event that's informal, so those who are not into ties and dress shoes, can just be themselves. Have the cafeteria open, too, with the servings of old tyme food that some of us enjoyed - the cookies, fries and gravy. Chocolate milk. The offspring we've brought into this world who attend with mom/dad could also enjoy this grub. I know I'm not into a sitdown dinner of roast beef, baby carrots, gravy, baked or mashed spuds, with an ice cream dessert. Have too many of these doing my job when there's conventions, speakers et al....we call it the "rubber chicken" circuit. Media show up after dinner, have some dessert and coffee, then cover the guest speaker. Speaking of....could we have a few guest speakers as part of a roast...bring on former alumni who have made it big or do inspiring work...let them inspire with their words in an informal setting, but not like bringing in a speaker at grad who will give a boring speech on making it in this world. Having covered graduands getting their diplomas in WEtaskiwin every May since 1998, I'm bored of hearing drivel being delivered to the next class of 12th graders heading out into the world to start the next chapter in their lives. But I digress.
Food for thought, right Teresa. Jim's Pizza. Great Caesar salad. Pasta dishes. Perhaps bring on Tim Hortons with the double-doubles and desserts. Maybe the military could get involved with their cooking staff at the air cadets camp....room for rent for visitors. Get the big BBQ going - weiner roast? Just ideas floating in my noggin as I bang away at the keyboard.
What about KFC.....buckets and buckets of chicken. And that green cole slaw that most of us didn't eat as kids.
But no throwing oranges at the far wall in the BSS cafeteria. Those were the days.
Perhaps baloney, mustard and white bread sandwiches...a staple as I recall from my lunch bag at school. I never used to eat the fries (a jock, remember). Though a lot of my peers lived on that meal every day...washing it down with chocolate milk. Was pop (soda) a popular lunch drink?
I know a few wrestlers with skinny arms and long fingers were able to pull cans out of the dispense machines.
Just some ideas for filling hungry alumni stomachs.

If I may, i would like to make a quick comment on an earlier post from Lance. I don't know if Lance remembers me, but I remember him, and I would like to have a little input on the possibility of an alumni basketball game. When I was a minor niner me and Howie Dell used to hang out and watch the senior basketball team practice when our midget team practice was done. We learned alot from those guys... Doug "The Dancing Bear" Dance was a great rebounder, Lance's brother Art was a skilled ball handler, Paul Dassylva a superior playmaker, Rob Reives and Ron Bell excellent up front. Then there was Lance... he was skilled too... Correct me if I'm wrong here Lance, but I remember Lance was generally hanging out on the sidelines with a crowd of girls around him while he spun a basketball on his finger like one of the Harlem Globetrotters. If I get to help organizing an alumni basketball game, I want Lance on my team cuz we'll have all the girls hanging around us!

CORRECT ME IF I AM WRONG, BUT AT THE LAST REUNION THERE WAS NO MEAL FOR SUCH A LARGE GROUP. AND I WOULD HOPE WE WOULD GET A LARGE OR LARGER GROUP AT ANOTHER REUNION. THERE WAS A MEET AND GREET ON THE FRIDAY NIGHT=THAT WAS FUN-IN THE SCHOOL=REFRESHMENTS WOULD BE NICE. THEN ON THE SATURDAY=PERHAPS AN EVENT OR TWO AFTER LUNCH TO FILL UP THE AFTERNOON WITH FRIENDS. THEN EVERYONE ON THEIR OWN OR IN SMALL GROUPS FOR DINNER AND THEN ONTO AN ORGANIZED SOCIAL EVENT/MUSIC/DANCE/WHATEVER. ON THE SUNDAY IT WAS OUT TO THE BEACH WITH THE FAMILIES AND COOLERS FOR A FUN TIME OF WATER/SAND/VOLLEYBALL... ETC ETC. I REALLY FEEL ORGANIZING A MEAL IN ONE PLACE FOR OH SO MANY PEOPLE WOULD BE A HUGE CHALLENGE. AND THERE IS LOTS OF TIME TO SPEND TOGETHER OVER A WEEKEND WITHOUT HAVING MEALS TOGETHER. JUST SOME THOUGHTS AND MEMORIES FROM THE PAST REUNION TO SHARE. LET'S HEAR WHAT ALL THINK.
I OF COURSE LOVE THE JIM'S/TOMASSO'S IDEA, BUT THEIR RESTAURANT CAN ONLY HOLD SO MANY PEOPLE AND I THINK A BAYSIDE REUNION WOULD HAVE WAY MORE!!!
WE COULD PROBABLY ARRANG THE TIM HORTONS COFFEE/TIMBITS/DONUTS FOR A MEET AND GREET AND WE SEEM TO HAVE MORE TIM HORTONS HERE FOR SUCH A SMALL CITY!!

Brian - good recall. Yes, Lance was quite good at being a chick magnet. And his prowess, unlike his brother Art, was an ability to twirl the ball on his finger continuously.
What about a powder puff football game for the ladies, in full football gear.
Or some good old indoor baseball with the volleyball in the gym, like the old intramural days. I'll avoid getting a concussion.
Go Bay house, go!

Well Gator!! I am killing myself laughing here at your comments and thanks for the imput about the bb game I would love to be there and involved, I can still spin the ball on my finger but I am not so sure about the crowd of women...... wife might not be impressed lolol but hey you only have one 35th reunion right. I think a huge meet and greet filled with Tim hortons coffee etc. would be great. I'm sure Tim Hortons would probably sponsor the event especially if the news paper was involved ( that;s where Jules comes in) Jules must have some connections down here and can get great paper coverage on the event...How about it Jules? The meet and greet would be Friday and Saturday could be the huge Bar-B-Q Perhaps we could find a sponsor in that area as well, someone to supply the burgs and dogs Benton Fry motors has mustard! 6 months is not alot of time! Someone should start the ball rolling and form a committee !!! cheers Lance
