Some great ideas... the meet and greet with coffee and doughnuts is a great way to get the ball rolling. I think Teresa is right, trying to organize a sit down meal for such a huge crowd would be difficult to say the least. In fact... rather than reiterate what has been said I will just say I like all of Teresa's ideas! Saturday afternoon events, hmmm what about a family Turkey Trot (or walk, or crawl as the case may be), some slo pitch maybe. Of course I like the basketball game idea... I still have a hoop on my driveway, so on any given day my 13 y/o son can make me look bad. I never was any good at spinning the ball, maybe Lance can give me a lesson. For the Saturday night dance maybe we could get BSS alumni Steve Fleet's band Farside. Casper (Steve) always was a little bit of a punk rock star, although he may be mellowing as he ages (not unlike a fine wine).

A walk would be a great thing.. They have extended the river walk from Riverside Park down to South Front street. Its a great walk and ends up in a really nice park area. Why not try to contact the school and see if it can be used on a Saturday for a lunch or dinner and try contacting restaurants in the area to see if they would be willing to chip in. Yes Tim Hortons does sponsor some events, but if not coffee can be ordered in big cami( some hold 96 or more cups) and donuts can be ordered too. Just give them a couple of weeks notice and they will have it ready for pickup when you need it. They dont supply creamers but they can be purchased in bulk at Reids Dairy.

Lance Romance - seeing how you are still in Trenton (Bay of Quinte) area, why not strike a committe....draw on those who are here, plus those who you know, in the Belleville-Trenton-Frankford, Bata, Sidney, and hold a brainstorm session. I know my sister Teresa would be there (don't hold it on a night when she has three girls playing soccer at three different venus . I can start hitting the media outlets across Canada with emails (I have all the addies in my CCNA book). I could write up a press release and get it to them, which they could post on as a Letter to the Editor, or just a story seeking BSS alumni for a 35th anny, in 2007. August is likely a good month to host it. Just ideas - it's easier to have the people doing the ground work who are already in the area - tough for me here in Wetaskiwin, Alberta. Draw on those in Ottawa area. I'll send something out to the Intell and Trentontian and Brighton papers...close venues. Hit the radio stations - talk with the morning men in Trenton and Belleville.....talk up the 35th reunion with them.....perhaps someone will catch the gab on a reunion through the airwaves. And I'll post something on Gradfinder as I'm a gold member (though I don't seem to see much interaction there, either).

I'll set up a free web site where alumni can read about the reunion and sign up for it. I'll link it to this site.
Cheers, Sarah
And I will also hit all the alumni on the classmates.com site again.

Hi Guys/Gals,
I had Varky in my office this week and he mentioned that he has alot of money that was raised from our last reunion and was willing to give his ideas on how to host this reunion.

Some great ideas there Jules, Sarah and Ray. I am sure there are alot of alumni still living in the Quinte area that would be happy to help out with the Reunion. We could hold a get together at Timmies and crunch some ideas that we could put before the Reunion Committee and go from there.

Hey Lance. Elaine, sister Teresa - why not strike up a small "starting" committe to brain storm on the 35th reunion in August '07. I'll be sending off letters to the editor to local papers as well as other parts of Canada to pique the interest of former BSS alumni now calling other parts of Canada home. Or the world. Use my media connections. Perhaps Lance could drop by the Trentonian and talk with Tim Meeks, the editor, about a story on plans for a reunion at BSS next year. Elaine, give CJBQ a call. Or drop by the Intelligener and see the city editor. Or those papers could share one story, as both work hand-in-hand now as they are owned by the same company. Meet at Tim Hortons uptown or downtown, or by Wal-Mart (close for you Teresa). Or get together at the high school, with Mr. Harris attending. It's a start....

I will try to get the web site up tonight with an online form to sign up for the reunion. I will also try to get some other items on the site where people can choose which dates fit them. We can take the most popular dates then narrow them down until we have one date we can all live with. This is what I hope to have on the site.
- online form to sign up for the reunion (guest list) - online form to vote for dates - online form to vote on possible activities - list of local hotels - list of local rent a cars
We can add other ideas for Bayside alumni to vote on.
Cheers, Sarah

Sarah - excellent....will be perusing this site tonight to check out your latest REUNION forms et al. Lance....I still think you should call a "meeting" with those living in the Quinte region so as to get the ball rolling from the ground...choose a coffee shop, or the school...or a restaurant like Kelseys. Hey, while you're in there, drop a hint to the boss/manager that come the summer of '07, there could be lots of business in his establishment because of a reunion. he might want to be a sponsor. Maybe drop the same note to Tango Hotel (that's Tim Hortons in Mountie speak). And what about McDonald's where a lot of the BSS alumni once worked (and likely had their first job - remember the minimum wage in Ontario back in the 70s at $2.50/hour?). Just some thoughts, Lance. Sarah had one part being done; I'll use my media contacts to get the word out, but you can lead from the Trenton-Belleville area where there are some BSS alumni still calling home. Maybe the Ottawa group can also do the same....hey Brian and Ruth.

Ray...having Varky, our old badminton coach, would be a swell idea....to get his input from the teachers' perspective, as they are part of the alumni, educators versus students. If he's got leftover money and some ideas, welcome him aboard. He could be the liaison between our former teachers and those currently at the school, including the principal, Mr. Harris. Maybe he could get hold of the alumni teachers have them check out and join up on this site. Would be neat to hear from them and their memories of "us". I know Mr. Pope had a blast when we had the 20th....he might have been a stern, boring teacher in math, but in fact, he does have a personality we didn't know then.

Sounds like the ball is starting to roll! I'd be happy to hook up with Ruth... what can we do to help from this end? Be great to have Varky on hand, he was instrumental in getting the last reunion moving as I recall. I still remember Varky dancing around the classroom singing "Drugs in My Pocket".

Sorry about the Bayside web site. I have it almost ready and tried to go online last night to fix the last page. SYMPATICO screwed up my line and I have only just got it fixed. Will definitely have the site running some time this afternoon. Sorry guys. If it is any comfort I came up with a few new swear words that are helpful in dealing with sympatico agents Cheers Sarah

Here is the BSS 2007 Reunion Site: bssreunion.tripod.comThis is a free site so please just ignore the advertising gibberish at the top of the page. It is still under construction as I have to finish the 'Dates' page. Still the 'Sign Up' page is ready for anyone wishing to sign up for attending the reunion. Please type in your full address including postal code. Will get the site looking more presentable this afternoon and post on all boards. Cheers, Sarah

Just perusing the new BSS reunion site created by Sarah....excellent job. I've signed up. But I have a question regarding only posting dates for June. Thinking about the logistics of planning a trip back home from all points in Canada or the world for our BSS alumni venturing to the U.S. or Australia to call home, would it not be wise to also give dates in July and August? I thought our 20th anniversary reunion was during the summer holidays. Now us baby boomers have much older kids who are still in school in June. Again, thinking about the logistics of getting away from B.C. or Alberta in June, when your children are still in class. Just a thought. Any other feedback for the potential for reunion dates in July & August?

Hi Jules,
I haven't finished the 'Dates' page yet. It will include all weekends from June, July and August. Sorry. I had hoped to fix that last night but was left offline due to my server (mild case of identity theft changing my settings). I will have the 'Dates' page fixed sometime today. I will also be adding some other content to vote on. I just posted it now 'as is' to let people see it and sign up. Please send any suggestions to help make the site better ;D
Again... sorry.
Cheers, Sarah
